I have a confession to make. I can’t contour to save my life. My smokey eye game is in the struggle zone. Kim Kardashian makes it all look so easy. I end up looking like The Hamburglar. Ain’t nobody got time to look like a hamburger stealing super villain. So I have been loving a natural contour free life. My go to items are a natural foundation, a little mascara and a nice nude or pink gloss or balm. Avon celebrity makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan has a few recommendations for mastering the natural no make up makeup look:
Choose the Right Foundation: Use a medium coverage foundation. It’s natural looking and breathable. Check out Avon True Color Ideal Nude Liquid Foundation HERE.
Apply Foundation Right: Apply your foundation with a fluffy brush and buff in circular motions. Kelsey says, “Buffing it, instead of brushing it or rubbing it in with a sponge, gives a more natural look because it evens it out and really pushes it into the skin instead of just laying it on top.” “It will give you that ‘second-skin’.” Conceal as usual with your favorite concealer. Highlight Away: For a natural looking look avoid highlighters that contain large chunks of glitter. Kelsey says, “Brush it on the high points of your face: the tops of the cheeks, bridge of the nose, under the brows, and just above your cupid’s bow.” “That is really going to accentuate your features and bring light to your face.”
Blush It Up: To keep your blush looking natural, stick to cream formulas. Apply to the apples of your cheeks for a natural look. Check out Check out Avon True Color Be Blushed Cheek Color HERE.
Neutral Eyes: Warm tones work best for the natural no-makeup look. Kelsey says, “A champagne shadow is always really pretty for daytime. It just gives a little something on the eyes, but not a ton of color.” Check out Check out Avon True Color Eyeshadow Single HERE in Champagne for a natural look.
Brown Mascara? Use a brownish mascara like Avon True Color SuperExtend Nourishing Mascara in Brown Black. “Brown is still going to give you the definition, but it’s not going to be as dramatic as a dark, black mascara,” says Kelsey. Note to self – must try!
Go nude: Try a tinted lip balm in a neutral shade. Kelsey’s pick is mark. by Avon All Butter Now in Bare All. “It’s literally your lip color, but better,” she says. “It’s natural-looking, but it’s not so transparent that you don’t see anything. It will shape the lips and give them a little hit of color.”
